Today we feature an update from SueBee, our South African correspondent....

Hi there,

Meet Misty with a crooked tail...  having discovered Banshee's breeders are no longer in the business and that it is not the time of year for Siamese to be breeding, decided to go the moggie route.  Got her from the Germiston SPCA. A right little sh  1 t already and it is going to take quite an age before all the four leggeds are at ease with one another...!  Poor Pumpkin (photo of him attached for those of you who don't know him!) has been designated to the dining room table for his food. However, he was very good at first introduction - rubbing noses with her until she suddenly realised  in a household full of ex-Convent ladies... - she wasn't supposed to getting too friendly with huge ginger toms at her age and she let rip (photo shows it all...!)  Also, it didn't take madam long to realise she could get up there and was more than happy munching his fish and cheese - latter put on to entice Pumpkin in his state of shock to eat - after which she constantly attempted burying her kitten food! Only other downfall which we were able to resolve with brillaint stuff from petshop very quickly was her being a real flea bag - had them all over the place.

In between her moments of causing havoc, she is ever so good, passes out very easily (HAS to make body contact which leaves me rather stiff in one position at times..!) - she was really good last night. Once asleep, soundly enough to pick up and move her (the engine purr silenced to know when it was time) she slept soundly in a shoe box on my bed (in case I squashed her) until 04h58 when she decided it was wake up time.  After making love to my face, rubbing herself endlessly against it and my hands, she then did her necessary toiletries, had something to eat and was back in no time rubbing herself against me and staring into my face. Every so often she'd paw at and/or start licking and then biting my eye lids with what are still little pins - bloody sore.

Her colouring tends to be more of a smoky grey, paler than darker, and the ginger bits the same as her head with her back a little darker - more charcoal but still quite light and she has spots and some stripes on her tummy.  Monica thinks she's rather wishy-washy and had originally decided she needed one of the 'old fashioned' names but none seemed to sound right for a cat or one that could be called easily. It was my mum who came up with Misty.  Very first idea, because of her tail was 'Kinky' until Monica decided it would be taken the wrong way...!!

Having done literally only that all weekend (was supposed to have morning tea at the house of someone who I used to catch the bus with to/from town - real Pom accent which I guess gives reason for the morning tea at home! Think though, that she must have forgotten as I had no phonecall prior to that, as she'd said she'd give me, to confirm arrangements and didn't want to phone her in case she had forgotten and then have her feeling awful about it.  That's when  my mum decided going to the SPCA would be a good time.  Had it not had awful diarrheoa we might have taken another little ginger one that was climbing up the gate, loving and chewing everyone and everything - so full of character and guts - so Misty was the next best available. Am dying of heat with fan on full - can't open windows as Madam has already learned how to get to them - clambers up anything material, can already jump up far too high for our liking, and once has a gale in her tail that's the beginning of the end of any peace but so gorgeous to watch.

She has already discovered and stared for ages in total awe at the fish and has been mesmorised by water in my basin so spends ages there . Attached lot have been lightened a lot as the originals tended to be far darker than she is in real life but some of them seem more like the wish-wash colouring Mon reckons she has!  The crooked tail, most noticeable I think in last photo is because it apparently was broken at the base and further down. Guy at the SPCA said she is believed to be about 6 weeks old.

One consolation I guess of working half day - will have all/every afternoon to play with Misty. Having said this though, most of last week the sod had me working full day (no overpay as he says my type of job has more time in working hours doing nothing so outweighs any overtime done!) on project he wants completed by end of Feb (all outstanding parts from outside parties so don't see why I should have to be the sucker - we shall see what gives!)

Not much else I can think of at present. Guess I had also better start getting down to seeing what other e-mails I've received this weekend - also have to find any and/or everything I have in way of jokes relating to men/women drivers for one of the counsellors who I worked with when doing the Anglo retrenchment job. She has been asked (a first for the ladies) to be the guest speaker for NADA (National Auto Dealers Association) - so if you have any along those lines please pass them on. One I really wanted and can't find anywhere on my computer - which surprises me as I tend to keep everything - is the one where a woman drives past a pig in middle of the road and on going around the corner shouts at the guy coming in opposite direction "Pig" to which he response "Bitch" - but always better in original form so if you find that amongst any others would be more than grateful.
